Sakya Dhita Nunnery School Dining Hall Building

As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, Meinhardt Myanmar is providing structural engineering services on a pro bono basis for a new dining hall at Sakya Dhita Nunnery School in Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region. The school is one of Myanmar’s leading institutions for the education and training of Buddhist nuns. Tragically, its buildings were devastated by the severe earthquake of 28 March 2025, which also resulted in several fatalities.

With support from local and international donors, the school’s abbess and nuns are now working to rebuild the campus on an 8.5-acre site. Meinhardt Myanmar’s civil and structural team is undertaking the structural design of the new dining hall, supported by Meinhardt Thailand’s geotechnical team, with all professional services being provided free of charge.

The two-storey building will have a gross floor area of approximately 1,500 sq.m. The first floor will accommodate dining facilities for up to 300 people, while the ground floor will contain the kitchen and storerooms.

The project has an estimated construction cost of USD 1.8 million. Construction commenced in February 2026 and is targeted for completion in December 2026.
