Millennium Residence has changed the skyline of Bangkok’s Sukhumvit residential area with its four stunning 50-storey condominium towers overlooking Bangkok’s largest lake. Special features of this project are the 3-petal plan shaped apartments giving all units wrap-around views, a 25 metre high void at ground level ensuring even the first floor apartments have an unobstructed view above the surrounding buildings and a vast landscaped garden grove linking the buildings to a central clubhouse and parking facility. A key challenge for the design team was to control wind sway accelerations within acceptable limits using wind tunnel testing and complex 3-D structural analysis programmes.

A further testament to the innovative design employed is the recognition received from The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore. It is the first project in Thailand to receive the Green Mark Gold Award, which is given in credit of projects that protect and preserve the environment. Green design elements included rain water and waste water recycling, control of the basement car park ventilation system using carbon monoxide monitoring, a high efficiency air conditioning system, the use of low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints, lighting control in the public areas using motion sensors and a façade design to achieve well insulated and air tight buildings.
